I love it when I get a really creative idea that just works out and looks cute.
During a recent craft party I realized that I have stacks of New Zealand and Bali batik fabric leftover from projects. Most of the pieces are fat 1/4 and fat 1/8, not really enough left for more than a small project.
I started making creative and interesting colour packs with the pieces of batik and figured out that I could fold and scroll them together into a flower/rose. They looked interesting and different, but I needed a way to keep the pieces together and I didn’t want to use just a plain old rubber-band or a ribbon.
Enter The Cupcake Cup! I found a packet of sturdy, cardboard muffin cups’ in a reject shop and I stuffed the fabric in that. After some artistic tweaking, the fabric looked cute as a rose in a cup! Final Product…Fabric Cupcake, perfect for small projects and stash starters.
I had so much fun matching the batiks’ into interesting combinations that I made four more each consisting of 5x 22″x9″ beautiful batik fabrics.
These will definitely be up for grabs at our next craft market. They make great craft supply gifts. There are some for sale already on our Etsy Store.
